A systematic and consistent approach is essential for the effective assessment and resuscitation of a traumatized patient. ATLS® uses the “ABCDE” approach to define an orderly progression of evaluation and intervention.
Successful completion of the course requires full attendance, passing grades in the skill stations and IA station and a post course test mark of 70% or higher. A verification card indicating successful completion of the course will be issued.
This is a 2-day course for any physician involved in the care of the trauma patient. Registration is limited.
The card verifying successful completion of the ATLS® course is valid for 4 years from the date of issue. To maintain a current status in the ATLS® Program, a refresher course is necessary every 4 years.
The treatment of seriously injured patients requires rapid and accurate assessment plus timely resuscitation.
The ATLS® course provides physicians with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to effectively manage the trauma patient.
