Description
Linux for the Absolute Novice
Thursday December 5, 2019 - 1:00-3:00 PM
This course will offer an introduction to the absolute essentials of the Linux operating system. Users will learn how to log on to Linux servers via ssh or PuTTY, and navigate their way around the file system, copy and move files around. You will also learn how to write and execute a simple shell script.
As a pre-requisite..
a) All workshop participants require a laptop
b) Participants using a windows laptop must pre-install PuTTY or should have permissions to install it.
c) All workshop participants require University of Manitoba UM Net ID as it will be used to access the internal-server based training environment
