Description
This is a specification page for the minimum supported hardware that Teams from CanadaCPD.com or any of its subsiduaries commit to maintain and make available to presenters. This hardware/software stipulation does not represent the policy of the University of Manitoba which still maintains support for PCs.

Computer: Macbook, MacbookPro, MacbookAir

OS
Snow Leopard or later
Keynote Software
Version 5.1
available for $14.99 right from your laptop using AppStore (on snow Leopard or later)

if you plan to use iClickers it is always safest to maintain your own copy of iClicker.app on your hard drive. The Lion version of the Mac OS is relaeased as it does not work with legacy iClicker base station software.

What This Means
When presenting in person at an event co-managed by CanadaCPD.com, ManitobaCPD.com or TREKK.ca if you have developed your content on a laptop that conforms to these specifications you can reasonably expect that the content will play properly on laptop provided by the event hosts.
That being said, it is always recommended that you arrive on the day of the presentation with 1) your own laptop, 2) its power source, 3) the presentation loaded on the laptop, 4) the appropriate display adaptor for your particular Mac Laptop and 4) the presentation loaded on a USB stick and ready in case of problems.
FAQ
I am bringing a MAC not matching these specifications

I am bringing a PC not matching these specifications
Arrive on the day of the presentation with 1) your own laptop, 2) its power source, 3) the presentation loaded on the laptop and 4) the presentation loaded on a USB stick and ready in case of problems.
I forgot my PC but have my PPT presentation on a USB stick
Our laptops can load most PPT presentations authored on a PC. We do not guarantee that your presentation will work as you may have used some legacy formats that Microsoft no longer supports in it's latest versions of Mac Office but in most cases the presentation works fine.
As well if the presentation is taking place in an auditorium that is part of an academic institution the presentation podium will likely have a PC buit in that should have an up to date version of Microsoft Office.
GOTCHA's
USB sticks are not as standardized as you might think. About 1 in 10 times they do not work on similarly configured computers be they MAC or PC. As such, deliberately bringing you presentation on USB stick only is NOT recommended. If you plan to come without a computer you should submit your presentation at least 7 days ahead of time to the host and confirm directly with the host that your presentation has been secured by the host and is working properly AND also bring the presentation loaded on a USB stick and ready in case of problems.
