A little background...
Like many other developers we initially built a completely separate mobile interface for our site. It was a dumbed down to accomodate the limited power of small screened mobile devices. A funny thing happened over the lifespan of that development process...Mobile Devices got FAST and HIGH RES. Over time we realized that the extra burden of developing 2 separate sites was little more than a distraction and that we were as a result not keeping our desktop site tuned to work on mobile devices because we were so busy with the mobile site. Since we changed gears and consolidated our approach we've been very satisfied with the results. Now when we change something it is with a view to making sure it works well for mobile and desktop users alike.
