Skype

Skype is a free online 'Voice and Video over IP' solution for meeting online face to face. This is one of the most useful applications we have ever encountered and is a solid recommendation for anyone hoping to schedule online meetings.

It runs on mac, PC, iphone, iPad and Android. You can share your desktop or your webcam video which is just great for showing someone a document or web page you are working with - just like they were right there beside you. The ability to share your desktop is a HIDDEN GEM that most users overlook. It really makes Skype so much more useful than the POT (Plain Old Telephone).

The standard application just supports 1:1 meetings meaning you can only chat and see one other party. There is a version out for PC only that supports multiple user video conferencing but there is now a nominal charge for that feature so it is technically no longer a free service unless you are using it for one on one chatting.
