Adobe Connect Pro
Description
Our framework prefers Adobe Connect Pro.
It is intuitive, easy to learn as a host and very easy to connect to as a guest.
To arrange a live demo of our Web Seminar technology please contact Greg Van de Mosselaer at 204 952 8063.
At the time of your pre-arranged demo visit the link you have been sent. See example links below.
If you ever want to activate you own account it is approximately 350$/year per host through academic licensing. A Department can designate one host who has to start all the meetings. Once they are started anyone can present and up to 200 can log in to participate. The ManitobaCPD.com framework work with a Canadian reseller and can help you set up your account on the umanitoba.adobeconnect.com server.
Licenses are transferable and can be reassigned easily…
i.e. 'Doctor A' can use 'Licence X' for one week then pass 'Licence X' to 'Admin B' the next week.
It is important to note that MBTelehealth hosts secured networks between a large number of health facilities in Manitoba and use of MBtelehealth is our preferred suggested method of meeting. Adobe Connect Pro is more for situations where the parties that want to meet cannot be all present at Telehealth stations. An example would be, say, an academic departmental meeting where the attendees are spread across a variety of facilities, residences, even provinces at the time of the meeting.
Hardware Requirements
If you have a Mac or PC laptop with an attached webcam and integrated mic and speaker then you are 'good-to-go'. ie Any $300 netbook will work. That being said; a USB headset makes for a better audio experience. We like the Plantronics line of USB headsets.
Options For Audio
Despite ACP and many other similar platforms' support for VOIP (Voice over Internet) we prefer to conduct the audio for web meetings by plain old telephone. It is just better. For an explanation of why see the link below.
Software Requirements
ACP works on a number of browsers but we find Firefox to be the most stable. You will need to download Adobe Flash player. Your first time using ACP the web-app will ask you to OK downloading an adjunct flash module as a one time only install.
Blackberry, iPhone and iPad now supported!!!
You can download a free Blackberry, iPhone and iPad Adobe Connect Pro client to view and interact with ongoing presentations on your mobile device. It's really quite good, very well thought out and getting better with each app update.
